Ukrainian sugar refineries have produced 1 million tonnes of white sugar from 7.56 million tonnes of sugar beet so far in the 2020/2021 processing season, which began on Sept. 1, the Ukrtsukor national sugar union said on Monday. The union has predicted that output of white sugar will fall by 15% in the full season to around 1.2 million tonnes. The economy ministry has said farmers harvested about 9 million tonnes of sugar beet in 2020. White sugar production fell by 19% in the previous season to 1.48 million tonnes due to a smaller beet harvest.
