High sugar prices are impacting mills and food costs in many countries, and some governments have decided to intervene.In Indonesia, the Trade Ministry recently announced that it will impose a price ceiling on sugar of Rp 12,500 (93 US cents) per kg starting in March. In addition, the government has issued import licenses to nine sugar producers to import 400,000 tons of raw sugar. Both measures are being implemented to reduce the price of sugar.
