Barchart - Sugar prices settled mixed on Monday, consolidating below last week’s significant highs. Prices came under pressure Monday on the outlook that India will import less sugar than previously estimated. India-based sugar analyst Greenleaf said Monday that India will not be able to import more than 500,00 MT of sugar by October 31, well below expectations of 1 MMT. Sugar prices were also pressured Monday after the Indian Sugar & Bio Energy Manufacturers Association (ISMA) said there isn’t any sugar shortage in India, and supplies are adequate for meeting higher demand during the upcoming festival season. ISMA also projects India’s sugar production in October to total 1 MMT, well above normal levels of 300 MT to 400 MT.
