Barchart - Sugar prices on Friday closed mildly higher on a slightly weaker dollar and on some pre-weekend short-covering after posting a 1-week low earlier in the session.
Sugar prices on Friday were undercut as WTI crude oil (CLQ26) fell more than -3%, giving back about half of Thursday’s 6% rally. Friday’s fall in oil prices was bearish for ethanol prices, which may encourage sugar mills worldwide to divert less cane crushing toward ethanol production than sugar, thus boosting sugar supplies.
