SUGAR REPORT | 08.12.2025 | MARKET NEWS

Reuters - In a significant development for the country's sugar industry, a major export deal has been finalized to ship over 100,000 tonnes (1 lakh tonnes) of sugar to international buyers, marking one of the largest bulk export agreements of the current season. The deal is expected to boost market sentiment, support mill liquidity, and help balance domestic stock levels amid steady production forecasts. According to industry sources, the agreement was struck after weeks of negotiations with buyers from the Middle East, Africa, and Southeast Asia regions that continue to rely on India for high-quality, refined sugar. The shipment will primarily include raw and white sugar grades and is expected to be dispatched in multiple consignments over the next few months, depending on port availability and logistics schedules. The deal comes at a time when global sugar prices have remained firm due to tight supply conditions in major exporting countries such as Brazil and Thailand. With India's production projected to remain stable this season, mills have been seeking opportunities to tap into the premium prices available in overseas markets. The new export order is expected to bring in substantial revenue, helping mills clear outstanding dues to sugarcane farmers.
